ABOUT US

Tig Bhric has been in the same family for over 100 years. In 1999 Pádraig Bric inherited the business from his mother Máirín (Ní Loingsigh) becoming the fourth generation to run the pub.

About us

Our History

Over the next two years Pádraig, with his partner Adrienne Heslin, extended Brics to include a guest house and a private home for their family. Tragically, just as the building was complete, Pádraig passed away in 2001, leaving Adrienne as custodian of Tig Bhric for their daughter Maude. Faced with the task of continuing the family business, while raising their daughter, in 2006 Adrienne had the idea to establish a brewery at Tig Bhric because when visitors to the peninsula asked about local beers, she had to tell them there were none. Plans began to take shape.

Using water from the pub’s own well and a small brew kit, in May 2008 the first beer was brewed – Cúl Dorcha, a dark red ale, named after a beach, just a few minutes down the road. She then concentrated on developing a porter then golden ale, also named after nearby locations – Béal Bán and Carraig Dhubh. Today the brewery produces three core ranges of beer: Renegade, Riasc and the Collector editions.

Along with the pub and brewery, Adrienne has continued to develop the business with the addition of charming self catering accommodation options at the pub. The Brewer’s Lodge is a self contained three bedroom home from home, while the guesthouse has a choice of four beautifully decorated en-suite rooms with shared living and kitchen space. All the accommodation has been thoughtfully considered, allowing guests to have a relaxing and comfortable base from which to explore the Dingle peninsula.

Born of a Strong Spirit

Not only was Beoir Chorcha Dhuibhne the first craft brewery in Kerry, but it was the first microbrewery in Ireland to be founded and managed by a woman, and Adrienne continues to run the brewery today. Remembering those early days, Adrienne recalls “I realised the wonderful potential around developing beers with an intense connection to the ground they were made on… using water from 150 feet below the brewery connects me back to the family members who have gone before us, and in turn they are connected out to the world through the beers we produce here”.

Lovely pub all clad in wood, with welcoming fireplace we appreciated so much in a cold rainy day. Very nice staff and delicious craft beer! Also it should be said that this place is not just pet friendly, but rather pet loving! My dogs were both treated like princesses, offered a bowl of fresh water and even a soft dog bed for each to rest on. When we’re in Co. Kerry again, we’ll be back for sure!

Quirky little place, with cosy interior, cute garden, cool pieces of art & AMAZING beer. Tried 6 different real ales – ALL top notch, including a golden ale with corriander seeds, a very drinkable mild, and an incredible porter aged in whisky barrels. Wow. How i wish this was my local

A proper local pub that has its own microbrewery. Locals sitting at the bar will most often be speaking Irish and the stained glass panel in the pub is beautiful.
