ABOUT US

Tiġ Bhric pub has been in the same family for over 100 years. In 1999 Pádraig Bric inherited the business from his mother Máirín (Ní Loingsigh) – becoming the fourth generation to run the pub.

Our History

Over the next two years Pádraig, with his partner Adrienne Heslin, extended Brics to include a guest house and a private home for their family. Tragically, just as the building was complete, Pádraig passed away in 2001 leaving Adrienne as custodian of Tiġ Bhric for their daughter Maude. Faced with the task of continuing the family business while raising their daughter, in 2006 Adrienne had the idea to establish a brewery at Tig Bhric to satisfy the requests for local beers from visitors to the region. Plans began to take shape.

Using water from the pub’s own well and a small brew kit, in May 2008 the first beer was brewed – Cúl Dorcha, a dark red ale, named after a beach just a few minutes down the road. Adrienne next concentrated on developing a porter and then golden ale, both also named after nearby locations – Béal Bán and Carraig Dhubh. Today the brewery produces three core ranges of beer: Renegade, Riasc and the Collector Editions.

Along with the pub and brewery, Adrienne has continued to develop the business with the addition of charming self catering accommodation options at the pub. The Brewer’s Lodge is a self contained three bedroom home from home, while the guesthouse has a choice of four beautifully decorated en-suite rooms with shared living and kitchen space. All the accommodation has been thoughtfully considered, allowing guests to have a relaxing and comfortable base from which to explore the Dingle peninsula.

Born of a Strong Spirit

Not only was Beoir Chorcha Dhuibhne the first craft brewery in Kerry, but it was the first microbrewery in Ireland to be founded and managed by a woman, and Adrienne continues to run the brewery today. Remembering those early days, Adrienne recalls “I realised the wonderful potential around developing beers with an intense connection to the ground they were made on… using water from 150 feet below the brewery connects me back to the family members who have gone before us, and in turn they are connected out to the world through the beers we produce here”.

The ICBI is the trade organisation of Independent Micro Brewers on the island of Ireland. We comprise of different business models with a common aim to communicate effectively with each other as well as to you, the consumer. The ICBI remains united in bringing local communities throughout Ireland quality crafted beers.

The barman and longtime colleague. Native of Tralee whose father Sean “Gash” O Loingsigh was born into the pub. Paul is the beer connoisseur, and having lived in England for many years learnt a thing or two about good beer!
